    Position Purpose: Responsible for providing strategic direction to the discipline, cross-discipline marketing and business development, and developing a strong team of engineers and technologists to support the ongoing growth of the organization.


    This role serves as an integral link between the Regional Director and the Engineering Director by providing both inter-disciplinary coordination and discipline leadership at the regional level.


    Service Line Accountabilities – Workload and Quality Management

    Regional Accountabilities - Business and Operational Management

    Overseeing the design process provide effective options and solutions to design problems, mitigating WEC’s exposure and protecting client relationships.


    Lead the preparation of proposals for major projects.

    In conjunction with the Branch Administrator and other Engineering Managers, develop standards and procedures for, quality, efficiency, safety, cost reduction, client service and ensure they are followed by your discipline.


    Support the development of lasting relationships with clients. Develop new relationships with clients and new sectors.


    Working with the Engineering Director and Team Leads, forecast workload for staffing targets and determine ideal staff mix.


    Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.

    Manage cost and time components of the discipline to ensure profitability.

    Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships to the trusted advisor level.


    Actively contribute to a culture of peer review.

    Attract talents and participate in the recruitment and termination of staff.

    Provides leadership to the development and maintenance of IQMS and CAD standards.

    Manage, motivate, train, mentor, and discipline direct reports according to company policies and guidelines.


    Coordinates with the Project Managers to ensure that project budgets and schedules are achieved.

    Employees are required to adhere to the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.

    Develop direct reports’ Career Paths and provide performance appraisals, with input from the Regional Director and Engineering Director.





    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or diploma in Engineering Technology.



    • Professional Engineer registration in Canada is strongly preferred but may consider candidates with eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in BC in one year or less.
    • At least 12 post-graduate experience years experience in power distribution, communication, lighting and life safety systems.Extensive local experience is an asset
    • Experience in a leadership, supervisory or mentorship role.
    • LEED AP, RCDD and LC designations are definite assets.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
    • Strong presentation and project management skills.
    • The ability to recognize and accurately define problems and solutions by collecting data and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
    • A results oriented and decisive individual with the ability to delegate effectively.
    • A people oriented leader with a reputation for successfully attracting, mentoring and motivating a team.
    • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple priorities, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
    • Strong contacts in the engineering community and a persuasive presentation and communication style.
    • Experience and good judgement to plan and accomplish ambitious but achievable goals.
    • Ability to represent the company to the staff, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
    • Understanding in revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly.
    • Understand in our pricing model and billing procedures.
    • Ability to facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
    • Strong understanding in the area of the engineering discipline.
    • Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including Gnosis, Vision, Career Path, MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, discipline specific design software, etc.)
    • Experience with the various Standards and the National and Provincial Codes mandatory.
