    Position Purpose:  Working closely with the Project Manager, assisting on various projects, and contributing to the technical competence and production requirements of the discipline.  Provides exceptional customer service and coordination assistance with internal and external project partners (consultants, contractors, etc.).


    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Write reports that do not require significant editing
    • Coordinate with all disciplines, extract and relay relevant information for complex problems.
    • Working knowledge of building codes.
    • Prepare fee letters.
    • Operate independently on routine projects
    • Review and mark-up complex drawings
    • Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff, this includes reviewing reports and ensuring technical standards are met.
    • Contribute to maintaining and improving quality control.
    • Share expertise with other offices.
    • Prepare technical design for a variety of the following:
      • HVAC
      • Piping/Plumbing
      • Fire protection systems
      • Equipment selection and specification
      • Fuel systems
      • Energy analysis
    • Review and mark up drafting iterations
    • Periodic travel to remote project site locations. Duration of time away from branch office for these trips is typically between 1 and 3 days depending on timing of flights and weather conditions.
    • May resolve mechanical/construction conflicts with contractors
    • May resolve mechanical/construction technical issues and cost implications
    • Conduct site inspections and write reports


    • Graduate from a recognized technical program in Mechanical Technology
    • 6 or more years of experience
    • May possess a C.E.T. designation


    • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
    • Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit MEP)
    • Experience with building mechanical systems design for cold climates and for geographically remote locations.
    • Experience with sizing and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for building.
    • Exstensive experience with the use of AutoCAD for drafting of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for buildings.
    • Experience with basic heating, cooling, and plumbing system load calculations would be a significant asset.
    • Ability to periodically travel to geographically remote project site locations.
    • Understanding of the following:
      • Have a working knowledge of budgets.
      • Able to identify innovative technical approaches to building HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems design.
      • Knowledge of typicaly HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection equiptment in use in contemporary buildings and their typical limitations, service connection requirements, placement requirements, and maintenance requirements.
      • Ability to identify risks – satisfy client needs/ our needs.
      • Ability to accurately apply codes and regulations.
      • Ability to coordinate with all disciplines, extract and relay relevant information for complex projects.
